PI3K

Phosphoinositide 3-kinases (PI3-kinases or PI3Ks) are a family of enzymes involved in cellular functions such as cell growth, proliferation, differentiation, motility, survival and intracellular trafficking, which, in turn, are involved in cancer. The PI3K pathway has been found to drive many epithelial cancers. It has been implicated to play an important role in many cancers, such as colorectal cancers (CRC), breast cancer and lung cancer. Depending on the type of tumor, the presence of activating mutations in the PIK3CA gene, which encodes PI3K, can occur in 20-30% of cases.
